What is a Mummy MOT?.......The Postnatal Check You Deserve

The Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and C-section deliveries. Your specialist pelvic health physiotherapist will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth. They will also provide you with gentle exercises and treatment to help with your recovery and get you back on track with your fitness and day to day life goals.

Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post birth. This can cause pelvic instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.

It is recommended that women have an initial assessment at 6-8 weeks postnatally, but we also treat women who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or related pelvic floor issues.

About The Mummy MOT:

Postnatal CheckupAll our Mummy MOT practitioners are fully trained in postnatal care and are licensed to carry out a Mummy MOT. Mums need to bend, squat and lift so we provide postnatal clinical care and functional exercises for female clients following birth (no matter how long ago).

Pregnancy MOT & Coaching

Pregnancy is a time full of change and we can help make it a bit easier. You may not be able to do the exercise & activities you did before, or maybe you want to continue exercising but are unsure how to safely. A pregnancy MOT will assess your body throughout pregnancy and helps you cope with the physical demands. As well as a full MSK assessment, we also advise you on how to prepare for labour and birth, how to manage pregnancy related symptoms such as sciatica or back pain, as well as helping you to safely exercise with an individualised programme that is tailored to you.
